- 5 / 5By Ellen WhittleWhen road conditions stranded my partner and I in Douglas, we decided to try the Whistle Stop for lunch, coffee, and wifi to keep track of road conditions. We were met with an incredibly warm, friendly atmosphere, and concern about our well-being from Sue, the owner. She personally called hotels around town to make sure we got a room before they were all booked. Even with hospitality aside, the Whistle Stop has delicious hot food (I got the Smokestack Panini and it was amazing) and coffee, and a selection of new and used books. There are large tables to sit and use the free wifi or peruse a book before buying, and there is no rush. I felt immediately at home and relaxed even during a stressful time. I can't thank Sue enough for her kindness, and I would leave 10 stars if possible. Make sure to stop in here!March 27, 2017
